Gumband 2.1.9b for the Macintosh -------------------------------- Gumband written by Joseph William Dixon (aa343@chebucto.ns.ca) Mac port compiled by pelpel (kazuo@sta.att.ne.jp) gumband-219b-mac-68k.sit.bin - 68020+ gumband-219b-mac-ppc.sit.bin - PowerPC native, "Classical" Mac OS gumband-219b-mac-osx.sit.bin - OS X native, or OS 8/9 + CarbonLib (PPC only) Modes available ASCII - One and only way to play the game :) Sound effects (off by default) Made from the stock source + Mac support files modified by myself, which are found in clockwork Mac directory (carbon) and Pern CVS (classic+carbon). I used experimental main-mac.c for my Classical (68K & PPC) ports of 2.1.9a, which proved to cause a major performance problem, at least on Pern 5.1.0, so I restored the original busy wait code which works much better with cooperative multitasking of System 7--OS 9.X. The OS X binary is a CFM Carbon app, which requires to be installed on an HFS Plus volume (the default volume format used by OS X). Gumband doesn't support graphics, but I'm too lazy to remove the graphics menu - it just gives you an error message when you choose it. You really can copy and paste PICT resources in ZAngband 2.1.1c to make it work somewhat. You still have to draw tiles for, say, GWAR uniques or Gumband races, and tile assignment files need to be updated, which means huge amount of work. I'm personally not *that* enthusiastic in graphics support, although I received some personal emails about it. Any volunteers? If you have an old preferences file produced by other porters' builds of Gumband, the program can hang. If it happens, please remove the file called "Gumband Preferences" in your Preferences folder (which is in your System folder) and try again. // pelpel (kazuo@sta.att.ne.jp)
