HISTORY:

Republic Airlines was formed in 1979 by the merger of North Central and Southern
Airlines. By 1980 Hughes Airwest was added and Republic grew, to be the 8th largest
carrier in the U.S. By 1986 Republic was bought by Northwest.

Most of their planes still fly in NW, like the DC-9-31 N9393, which was a Hughes
and Republic flyer, with the same reg. number up to now.
