TURN ON WORD WRAP ----------------- FS98 Panel - Douglas DC-8 By Kristopher Crook Semi-photorealistic panel based on photographs of an early model DC-8 , circa 1961. Features working Flight Director, fuel cutoff switches and several custom gauges on the main panel. Switchable secondary panel features weather radar, radios, and autopilot. Designed for 1024x768 resolution, has not been tested in 3D mode. NOTES ----- There are some custom gauges that were created for this panel to simulate those in the actual DC-8 that are somewhat different than those seen in other panels. They are: Fuel Cutoff Switches: These are located on the glareshield above their respective engines. The real DC-8 does not have fuel cutoffs in this place, it has fire warning lights. For that reason, I made the cutoffs into warning lights. When you select an engine and click on the warning light, it will illuminate and cut the fuel from that engine. It was a compromise that saves panel space and adds some realism with the working lights. Auto-throttle: Above the secondary horizon, there is a series of three darkened lights. The one on the right is the autothrottle anunciator. It was created from an autothrottle switch, so it serves a dual function. You can select the autothrottle by using the switch on the autopilot, or by clicking on the anunciator light. TO/GA: Like the auto-throttle anunciator, the TO/GA switch is also a converted anunciator light. It is located on the left side of the cluster which also contains the A/T light. Clicking on this switch will illuminate the anunciator as well as operate the TO/GA function. INSTALLATION ------------ Unzip "panel" into the panel folder of you desired aircraft.
