FREEFLIGHT DESIGN SHOP Providing Free, High-Quality AFX Files for Flight Shop ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to FREEFLIGHT Design Shop and thank you for downloading one of our available aircraft. This organization was founded by: Bill Alderson (Cyber Air) Guy G. Caron (The Captain's Quarters) Paul Conley (Classic Jets) Tom Gibson (Classic Airliners) Ralph D. Mitchell, Jr. Frank Safranek (PreFlight Checklist) Kevin Trinkle (PSA Smile High) You have just downloaded the following aircraft: ******************************************* * Aircraft: McDonnell Douglas MD-83 * * Designer: Bill Alderson * ******************************************* If you rework and/or repaint this aircraft, please keep this text file with the aircraft. Also, in any uploads to the Internet, please note in your text files (e.g. file_id.diz) that the aircraft was sponsored by FREEFLIGHT Design Shop. This is along with any of the other required credits that go along with the aircraft - more about this later. FREEFLIGHT Design Shop has two objectives: 1. Providing high quality AFX files; and, 2. Encouraging active participation from everyone, whether developer, painter or pilot! The founders arrived at a similar conclusion at roughly the same time. Web sites with repainted aircraft are ubiquitous, and although some sites make the AFX files available along with the repaints, there are few web sites which are strictly devoted to providing AFX files and those sites were not encouraging updates. We agreed that updates must be encouraged, and decided do some something about it. Eventually, after numerous telephone conversations and e-mails, the concept of FREEFLIGHT Design Shop was born. The objective of our association, and web site, is to provide to the flightsim community the highest quality source files that are freely available. We welcome updates to these files so we all can share in our joint knowledge of this fine hobby. Simply, all we ask that if you update a file, please CREDIT THE ORIGINAL DESIGNER and make it immediately available to everyone without any type of charge. You might say we believe in "Shareware" of a different kind. Of course, if you have a new file that you would like to freely share - let us know and we'll post it along with the others. It doesn't matter that the type of aircraft already exists, it only matters that it's your own creation and freely available. As the variety of aircraft grows, so does the probability increase that you will find just the aircraft you want for repainting in the colors and styles of your choosing. As much as we desire to post repaints, we suggest that you use the normal outlets for repainted aircraft. Several Internet locations are available from our "Links" section. Lastly, Bill, Guy, Tom, Ralph, Frank, Kevin and myself dedicate this effort to you - the folks with that hidden talent that can only make our hobby better. Regards, and let us hear from you, Paul Conley FREEFLIGHT Design Shop http://www.geocities.com/~freefltdesign/ October, 1998
