The Rotterdam scenery version 2.0. is designed to use it with: - Europe 1 from Bao/Microsoft (required) This is a commercial product. Which you must buy in order to run the Rotterdam scenery properly - Flight Simulator 98 of course! - PatchSet 1.0, with more scenery memory (512 kb) If you try to run without the patchset Flight Simulator is not able to display all the required objects - Texture files of Airport 2.05 and VOD 2.7 required (copy them to the main texture directory) *****Links on our page******** *** This version doesn't work with previous versions of FS *** ** only with FS98 *** ____________ INTRODUCTION ------------ The standard Rotterdam scenery was a great leap forward. It was even one of the most detailed areas in the Europe 1 scenery. But we live in the area and found of course too little realism. Many things had to be changed but we weren't scenery designers at all till Jeroen got Schiratti Commander for his birthday. Schiratti Commander turned out to be a great scenery designer and the drawing process went very fast. In just one week we designed the area around the airport and more realistic scenery of the suburbs. But even this designer had its limits. The library of objects was rather small and we needed to program very special objects like the Erasmus bridge and the Brienenoord bridge. This couldn't be done with Schiratti so we used scasm and programmed it. With drawings on paper we managed to get the design of the Erasmus bridge in a scasm file. Mark Arends designed all the special objects. This was a lot of work but the result was rewarding. Release 98 was a fresh new version. The complete Rotterdam south was included and Ridderkerk. Mark designed another landmark: the PTT tower (193 meters in height). This was done with VOD 2.7. To ensure everything was on the right spot we used tailor files from Teun Schuurman, PATS GRAPHIC DESIGN. To learn more about this look at his homepage (follow the link on our homepage) Rotterdam98 VERSION 2.0. NOTES Version 2.0. of the Rotterdam98 scenery includes not only Rotterdam. The whole harbor is complete. Including the Maasvlakte with a little airport used for parasailers and Ultra lights. The Westland greenhouse area is present in a basic form. These area is under current development by Robin Van Dijk. The Rotterdam Harbour stretches 30 kilometres West from Rotterdam so there is plenty to see. ____________ INSTALLATION ------------ If you have version 3.0 or Rotterdam98 1.0 you must delete all the files from previous versions. For this version you should make a subdirectory in you Flight simulator 98 directory for example c:\fs98\rot98_v20 In this subdirectory you should also make two subdirectories: scenery and texture. (These directories while be created when unpacking this scenery) Your Directory tree should look like this: | + FS98 | + Rot98_v20 | + Scenery | + Texture Then copy the *.BGL FILES to that scenery directory and copy the *.R8 FILES to the texture directory (rot7.bgl is missing, this is okay!) You must assure that the *.bgl are sorted in alphabetical order. One way to do this is copying them one after one to the scenery directory. Now start FS98 and go to the 'World' Menu and select 'Scenery Library'. In the Scenery Library select 'Files..'. Then choose 'Search..'. Select "Search drive" and locate the directory where the scenery is in. The type of the layer must be Local and it must be active. You must ensure that this layer is above the layer of Europe 1. _______________ SCENERY LISTING --------------- This version includes the next items Aviation: - Enhanced Rotterdam Zestienhoven Airport (now with trees, NEW!!) - Rotterdam Vor (visible model) - hangar (two were deleted because they were too large) - improved taxiways with night lightning - realistic surrounding of the airport (NEW!!) ***Maasvlakte Ultralight field********* - with a building!
