****************************************************************** FS98 Connie Flight Engineer Panel Version 1 by Jim Laskowski 2/99 An add-on to Tom Gibson's "Connie Panel v.6" which may be found at Tom Gibson's Classic Airliners page: http://members.aol.com/TGFltsim/index.html For 800x600 resolution or better. ****************************************************************** Credits: Original BMP and configuration by Jim Laskowski HGHB_mix_1.gau by HGHB Virtual Instruments http://fly.to.HGHB prop2ERK*.gau Propliner gauges by Ernie Kennedy erniek@iinet.net.au TANKSB.GAU by Chuck Dome: chdome@worldnet.att.net A few of the gauges have no author info so I cannot properly credit them. However I claim no credit for the design of any gauge herein. *********************************************************************** NOTE: Many classic airliners can be downloaded free from Tom Gibson's Classic Airliner WEB site at - http://members.aol.com/TGFltsim/ ************************************************************************** INTRODUCTION This is a full screen Flight Engineer panel for the Connie panels, specifically the latest one by Tom Gibson. It is near photo quality resized to fit propperly in FS98. It works fine in 800x600 modes. A few minor modifications were mad to Tom's pilots panel such as changing the engine control levers from a full set to only the 4 throttles and a single prop pitch controll as in teh real connies. The F/E had the full set in the rear seat. A couple of .jpg photos are included to illustrate the F/E's position in the actual aircraft. Pilots panel: The small blue knob right off the 4 throttle levers is the single lever prop pitch control lever as is on the "real" connies. The 2 vac/suction gauges were also on the original. Only 4 RPM gauges are fitted due to the fact I have not yet been able to make or obtain the proper manifold pressure and RPM gauges with double needles. I hope HGHB Virtual Instruments will help me out. If anyone else has some please let me know. FE pan: The small red knob right of the 4 mixture levers will move all mixture levers with your mouse pointer. If you have chosen both "Engine stops when out of fuel" from the Aircraft/Settings menu and "Manual fuel control" from the Fuel menu, the engines will stop if the mixture levers are pulled full back. The ignition/magnito switchs are also located on the F/E panel. The engine may be individually selected by pressing "E" and any number key 1-4. See Tom Gibson's how to fly them section on his Classic Airliner page for complete detailed instructions. THIS PANEL IS FOR FS98 ONLY! IT WILL NOT WORK IN FS4, FS5, OR FS95. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Unzip all files to a temp folder. 2. Unzip the contents of Gauges.zip to the \Gauges directory of FS98. 3. Make a directory in \FSFSConv called "panel.Fepan2"...omit quotes. (ex. ..\Aircraft\FSFSConv\panel.Fepan2) 4. Copy or Move all the remaining files from the Fepan2.zip into this new directory. When it asks to replace files click "yes". 5. Go to your Aircraft's panel directory for the plane that you want to use with this panel and then edit the "panel.cfg" file found there to read : [fltsim] alias=FSFSConv\panel.Fepan2 Make no other changes. Use Notepad to edit the file. You will merely be replacing the name of the aircraft's current panel with the name of the new panel you wish to use with it. NOTE: Do not edit the panel.cfg file that comes with Fepan2.zip!! Now the legal stuff: COPYRIGHT 1999 BY JIM LASKOWSKI, ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
