PRODUCT: PageMaker VERSION: 6.5 PLATFORM: Macintosh RELEASED ON: 03/27/97 TITLE PageMaker 6.5 Story Import Filter PPC ADOBE BBS (206-623-6984) LOCATION File Library, adobe, pagemaker, mac, 6.x, filters, pm65impp.sea (46K) ADOBE FTP LOCATION ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/pagemaker/mac/6.x/filters/pm65impp.sea.hqx (186K) DESCRIPTION This archive contains the PageMaker 6.5 Story Import filter for the Power Macintosh. After you install this filter, you can import stories from PageMaker 6.5 publications using the Place command, which allows you to transfer text between PageMaker publications without opening another publication, copying, or pasting. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Adobe PageMaker 6.5 for the Power Macintosh HANDLING NOTES After downloading a ".sea.hqx" file on a Macintosh, use StuffIt Expander by Aladdin Systems, Inc. (408-761-6200, http://www.aladdinsys.com/) to access the file's contents. StuffIt Expander is available as a freeware product. To decompress a ".sea" file on a Macintosh, double-click on the ".sea" file. INSTALLATION NOTES 1. Quit PageMaker. 2. Copy the PM6.5 Story Import PPC.flt file into the Filters folder in the RSRC folder in the Adobe PageMaker 6.5 folder. 3. Restart PageMaker. ADDITIONAL NOTES If you have PageMaker for the Macintosh, install the PM6.5 Story Import.flt file instead. To determine whether you have PageMaker for the Macintosh (68K version) or PageMaker for the Power Macintosh (PowerPC) installed, start PageMaker and choose About PageMaker from the Apple menu. PageMaker for the Power Macintosh displays the word "PowerPC" to the right of the version number, and PageMaker for the Macintosh displays only the version number. The Place PageMaker Stories dialog box appears when you select a PageMaker publication and click OK in the Place Document dialog box. The dialog box lists all stories in the publication, although you can specify a minimum number of characters for stories to be listed so that short stories, such as captions, don't appear in the list. Select the View button to preview a selected story before you place it. If you select more than one story to import in the list, the selected stories import as one continuous story. The story importer retains character formatting and named styles from other publications but has the following limitations: - Index entries with cross-references are not imported. Index entries with ranges other than Current Page or For Next Paragraphs are converted to Current Page. - Inline graphics are not imported. - Manual-kerning information from the original publication is ignored and replaced with the pair-kerning instructions for the paragraph into which you insert the story. - Text that you have rotated is imported but the text is not rotated when you place it in the publication. The PM6.5 Story Import PPC.flt file (dated 01/09/97, size 99,826 bytes) does not replace any existing PageMaker 6.5 file. (To view the size and date of a file, select it in the Finder, and then choose File > Get Info.)
