PRODUCT: Premiere VERSION: 4.2 PLATFORM: Windows RELEASED ON: 04/10/97 TITLE MMX Technology Plug-ins ADOBE BBS LOCATION 206-623-6984 (8N1), File Library, adobe, premiere, win, 4.x, plugins, mmx.exe (84K) ADOBE FTP LOCATION ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/premiere/win/4.x/plugins/mmx.exe (84K) DESCRIPTION The Adobe Premiere 4.2 MMX technology plug-ins enable Premiere to take advantage of high-performance MMX technology. Specific performance gains depend upon the clock speed of your computer, the codec you are using in Premiere, the kind of action you are performing, and the complexity of the video or audio with which you are working. For more information, see the list of accelerated tasks and components at the end of this file. NOTE: Install these plug-ins only if you are running Adobe Premiere 4.2 for Windows and your computer has a Pentium processor with MMX technology. These plug-ins are not supported by Adobe Premiere 4.0, 4.0 LE, or 4.2 LE. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Adobe Premiere 4.2 for Windows HANDLING NOTES After downloading a ".exe" file in Windows, double-click on the ".exe" file to access the file's contents. INSTALLATION NOTES To install the MMX technology plug-ins: 1. Quit Adobe Premiere 4.2. 2. Copy the Fl-rippl.prm, Fl-invrt.prm, Fl-impan.prm, and Bn-fstcr.prn files into the Plug-ins folder in the Adobe Premiere 4.2 folder, replacing any existing files with the same names. 3. Restart Adobe Premiere. ADDITIONAL NOTES Performance gains on operations accelerated for MMX technology can range from 5-1200%. The performance gains when rendering a movie can vary greatly, and will depend largely on the codec used for the source and destination media. To realize the best performance in Adobe Premiere, use the fastest codec available. Because codecs themselves do not take advantage of MMX technology, a slow codec can make overall performance gains appear negligible. For more information on codecs, see the Adobe Premiere User Guide included with Adobe Premiere 4.2. After installing the MMX technology plug-ins, Adobe Premiere takes advantage of MMX technology when performing the following actions or using the following components: Filters accelerated with the MMX plug-ins: --Bend --Blur --Blur More --Camera Blur --Convolution Kernel --Crop --Emboss --Find Edges --Gaussian Blur --Gaussian Sharpen --Image Pan --Invert --Resize --Ripple --Sharpen --Sharpen Edges --Sharpen More Transitions accelerated with the MMX plug-ins: --Barn Doors --Barn Doors AntiAlias --Center Merge --Center Split --Center Split AntiAlias --Cross Dissolve --Cross Stretch --Cross Stretch AntiAlias --Cross Zoom --Cube Spin --Cube Spin AntiAlias --Curtain --Doors --Flip Over --Fold Up --Gradient Wipe softness high --Gradient Wipe softness low --Image Mask --Image Mask AntiAlias --Motion --Multi-Spin --Multi-Spin AntiAlias --Paint Splatter --Paint Splatter AntiAlias --Push --Push AntiAlias --Slide --Spin Away --Spin Away AntiAlias --Split --Stretch --Stretch AntiAlias --Stretch In --Stretch Over --Stretch Over AntiAlias --Swap --Swing In --Swing In AntiAlias --Swirl --Swirl AntiAlias --Venetian Blinds --Zoom --Zoom AntiAlias --Zoom Boxes --Zoom Boxes AntiAlias --Zoom Trails Special processing accelerated with the MMX plug-ins (movie compiling): --Noise Filter Blur --Noise Filter Gaussian --Cropping --Resizing Other Processing accelerated with the MMX plug-ins: --Motion --White Alpha Matte --Black Alpha Matte
