PRODUCT: AdobePS(R) VERSION: 4.2.6 PLATFORM: Windows(R) RELEASED ON: 04/30/99 PostScript Printer Driver AdobePS 4.2.6 for Windows 95 and Windows 98 -- Korean ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/printerdrivers/win/4.x/aps4kor.exe (1128K) ftp://ftp-pac.adobe.com/pub/adobe/printerdrivers/win/4.x/aps4kor.exe (1128K) The Adobe PostScript printer driver (AdobePS) enables you to print documents from any Windows 95 or Windows 98 application to a PostScript printer. AdobePS provides several features not found in the standard PSCRIPT Windows 95 or Windows 98 PostScript driver, such as watermark printing with localized text, additional n-up options, and greater support for many popular applications. AdobePS drivers include full support for Adobe PostScript 3 fonts. (The driver still supports PostScript Level 1 and PostScript Level 2 fonts.) AdobePS 4 provides full support for Windows 98 including Windows 98 Image Color Management 2.0, full sRGB color support with Office97, conversion of sRGB input profiles into CRDs for Windows 98 and custom paper size 1 support for Word 7.0 Page Setup Dialog. AdobePS 4.2.6 is a service pack release that provides enhanced support for double-byte fonts and for customized versions of the driver. AdobePS 4.2.6 ensures TrueType fonts with "loca" tables larger than 64K download correctly as Type 42. AdobePS 4.2.6 also ensures that TrueType fonts larger than 10 MB can be downloaded as Type 42 fonts. AdobePS 4.2.6 also now recognizes when Kanji soft fonts have been downloaded. AdobePS 4.2.6 also corrects a "Is2016andT32?" error message from appearing for some customized drivers . Finally, AdobePS 4.2.6 correctly handles fonts whose names begin with "|M." This version of the Adobe PostScript printer driver is only for owners of Korean versions of Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98. This driver is not for use with Windows NT. Adobe recommends you use this driver only with Adobe PostScript Level 2 and Adobe PostScript 3 devices. To determine what level of PostScript your device has, check your printer’s documentation or contact its manufacturer. If you have a PostScript Level 1 device, you can use the Microsoft PostScript printer driver included with Windows. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS -- Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98 (Korean versions of Windows only) -- Any printer that includes Adobe PostScript Level 2 or Adobe PostScript 3 -- A PostScript Printer Description (PPD) file for your printer HANDLING NOTES After downloading a ".exe" file in Windows, double-click on the ".exe" file to access the file's contents. INSTALLATION NOTES To install this driver, you must have a PostScript Printer Description (PPD) file for your printer. You can get PPD files from the following sources: -- A floppy disk that included with your printer. If you cannot find this disk, contact your printer manufacturer for a replacement. -- The printer manufacturer's Web site or FTP site. -- Adobe's online services such as the Adobe Web site. NOTE: Adobe redistributes a number of PPD files for Mac OS and Windows as a courtesy to Adobe customers but does not guarantee to have the PPD file you need. -- Your service bureau or print shop. Your printer manufacturer is ultimately responsible for providing you with a PPD file. Neither Adobe nor your service provider is obligated to provide you with a PPD file. Installation Warning If you are using the Microsoft Client for Netware Networks with Windows 98, you must first disconnect any network drives before adding a new printer. If you do not, you may experience a failure in a system program called Mprexe.exe or your system may stop responding during the installation. This problem does not occur when using Novell Client for Netware or when no drives are currently connected to Novell servers using the Microsoft Client. To disconnect a drive, right-click on that drive and choose Disconnect from the pop-up menu. To install AdobePS 4.2.6: 1. Have your PPD file ready, either on a floppy disk or on your hard disk before you install AdobePS. 2. Exit from all applications. 3. Double-click the Setup or Setup.exe file to begin the installation. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
